I am a graduate of Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. I have a Bachelor's Degree in middle grades education with concentrations in language arts and social studies. I am also certified to teach reading to grades K-12. While in Ohio, I taught 9th grade World History and worked as a K-6 intervention specialist, working with students who struggled in reading and math. I moved to Raleigh in 2007 and taught 7th grade language arts/social studies at Durant Road Middle School for 6 years. This is my third year as a media specialist, and I am extremely excited about it! I earned my Master's Degree in both public library and school media at North Carolina Central University. I love assisting students in furthering their own knowledge through research, and in turn helping students find rich and meaningful information from their research efforts.
